Waste tracking that shows what keeps leaving the kitchen
Most kitchens know roughly what they throw away. Few know which item is the biggest problem. Chef’s Helper logs waste by item, quantity and reason, so you can fix the source instead of the symptom.
What it does
Log waste by reason
Record prep trim, spoilage, returned plates, out-of-date stock and other reasons. The reason matters as much as the weight, because it tells you what to fix.
Quantities and notes
Record how much went out, in weight, volume or units, with a note explaining what happened. Quantity plus reason is what turns a bin into a number you can act on.
Spot trends fast
If one ingredient keeps appearing in the waste log, the problem is either over-ordering, over-prepping or a menu issue. The data makes the conversation factual instead of personal.
Weekly summaries
The weekly summary shows this week's entries at a glance, and CSV and PDF exports cover any date range you pick. A single day can be an anomaly; a week is a signal.
From log entry to action
A waste log is only useful if someone reads it. Chef’s Helper shows a weekly summary and the most common reason, so you can decide what to change: the prep quantity, the order size, the menu spec, or the supplier pack. The loop is record, review, act, then record again to see if it worked.
Connect waste to the rest of the app
Waste entries sit alongside your inventory, prep lists and recipe costing in the same app, so a repeat offender in the waste log is easy to trace back to the dish that uses it and the order that brought it in. Waste is recorded as its own log. It does not adjust stock counts or recipe costs automatically.
