Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 13 October 2026
1. Introduction
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Chef’s Helper application and related services ("Service") provided by Robert Alan Hepburn ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age or have the authority to bind the organisation on whose behalf you are acting. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements.
3. Account & Credentials
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
4. Licence
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service in accordance with your selected plan. You may not reverse-engineer, resell, redistribute, or circumvent any technical limitations of the Service.
5. Acceptable Use
You must not use the Service to:
- Engage in any unlawful activity or fraud
- Distribute spam, malware, or malicious content
- Infringe any intellectual property rights
- Interfere with the security or integrity of the Service (including probing, scraping, or unauthorised access)
6. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in the Service, including software, documentation, branding, and design, remain the property of Robert Alan Hepburn. Nothing in these Terms transfers any IP rights to you.
7. User Content
You retain ownership of the content you upload (recipes, images, data). By uploading content you grant us a limited licence to host, process, and display it solely to provide the Service to you.
8. Payment & Subscriptions
If you subscribe through the Google Play Store, your purchase is billed and processed entirely by Google Play Billing under Google's own payment terms. We do not receive or store your payment card details, and cancellations and refunds for Google Play purchases are handled by Google — see our Refund Policy for details.
If you subscribe directly through our website, that order is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for web orders and provides customer service and returns handling for those purchases. For full details on payment processing, billing, tax, cancellation, and refund mechanics for web orders, please refer to Paddle's Buyer Terms.
Free trial. Every new account includes a single 14-day free trial with access to all features, starting when the account is created. No payment details are required for this trial and it does not renew. Only one free trial is available per account; where a paid plan is started after the trial has begun, that plan is charged from the start of its first billing period. When the trial ends without a paid plan, the account moves to the Free plan: your data stays available to view and export, but limits on the Free plan apply to creating new records.
Team plans and seats. Team plans include a fixed number of seats, Team S: 5 people, Team M: 10 people, Team L: 25 people, with the team admin counted as one seat. Members added to a team are covered by the admin's subscription and do not need their own. New members cannot join once all seats are in use until the admin upgrades or removes a member. If a subscription is downgraded to a plan with fewer seats, access to paid features is retained by the earliest-joined members within the new seat allowance.
9. Service Availability
We strive to keep the Service available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free performance. We may perform maintenance or updates that temporarily affect availability.
10. Suspension & Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you:
- Materially breach these Terms
- Fail to pay applicable fees
- Pose a security or fraud risk
- Repeatedly or seriously violate our policies
Upon termination you will have 30 days to export your data, after which it may be deleted.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you have paid us in the preceding 12 months. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages (including loss of profits, data, or goodwill). Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by negligence.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against any claims arising from your content, your unlawful use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.
13. Force Majeure
Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond reasonable control (natural disasters, war, pandemic, infrastructure failures).
14. General
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger or acquisition. You may not assign your rights without our prior written consent.
15. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
